Photographs of your face and smile, an intraoral scan and video of you speaking are combined into a design that respects your lip line, midline and facial proportions. The design is then printed or milled as a trial, so the decision is made from a real mock-up rather than a promise.
Most people who come for Digital Smile Design describe the same thing: a very even, bright upper front row. That look is not a single procedure — the clinical work behind it is veneers, crowns, bonding or whitening, chosen according to your own teeth, bite and gum line. DSD Technology is the step that decides which of those is appropriate for you, and lets you see the proposed shape in your own mouth before anything is prepared.
A set of standardised facial and intraoral photographs, a video of you speaking and smiling, and a digital scan of both jaws.
Tooth proportions, midline, incisal edge position and smile line are designed on the photographs and the digital model.
The design is transferred to a temporary material and placed over your own teeth without being cut, so you can see it, photograph it and think about it.
Once you approve the trial, the same design is produced in the definitive material — veneers, crowns or composite.
No. The point of the trial is that it can be changed. Nothing irreversible is done to your teeth until you approve the shape.
No. A design may equally conclude that whitening, bonding or orthodontics is the better route — and that is a legitimate outcome.
